7 Weeks Old!
It breaks my heart to say that I've already had to pack up most of Jude's newborn clothes. My little boy is growing! I know he's still tiny- but some days I look at him and it seems like he's changed so much. Seven weeks makes such a big difference.
Things have been so much easier this week. We have finally turned the corner. All the experience mom's told me that after the first 6 weeks things settle down- and boy have they. I've actually been able to take a shower for 3 days in a row- get the dishes and laundry done- and even sit and eat! He's starting to play a little on his own. My sister gave us a floor mat. He loves to lay there and kick the ball. We also invested in a swing... and it was seriously the best thing we've ever done. You can put him in it and two minutes later he's asleep. Amazing. I wonder what parents did without all these gadgets.
Another big mile stone- Smiles! We've thought Jude was trying to smile for a while now- but at the beginning, smiles can easily be confused with gas. But on March 1st- we definitely got our first official smile... and now they're coming more frequently. It's so much fun to actually now that we're making him happy. I love it. Now we're waiting for him to laugh.
The most difficult thing right now is remembering to enjoy every moment. Even all the crying and late night feedings... I know I will miss my tiny little baby and him depending on me for everything. When he starts holding his bottle, I'll miss holdhing it for him.. And when he turns over- I'll remember when I had to make sure he got tummy time.. Even though all of this can be really overwhelming.. I love it. Like every other mom- I would do it a million times over.
